What are the Causes of Acne Vulgaris?
Since the beginning of time, people have been plagued by acne. This common skin disease comes in many different forms, some mild and some severe. The type of acne you suffer from would determine the type of treatment received. In addition, while acne can be seen on the chest, buttocks, legs, or back, it is most often seen on the face. Face acne falls within several groups to include vulgaris and rosacea, among others. Then, each of these groups also hosts various types of lesions or pimples. For this reason, getting the right treatment is imperative if you want to get rid of acne, and experience few outbreaks. The great thing is that between traditional medication and natural remedies, you will find the solution that works for you. The most common type of acne is called Acne Vulgaris. Within this group you would see blackheads, whiteheads, papules, and pustules. However, if a person has an extreme case of Acne Vulgaris, cysts and nodules can also develop. With the severe case, more extreme measures are usually required to bring and keep the acne under control. The cause of acne vulgaris is your skin. Although cleaning your skin better and eating a healthy diet will not hurt, the problem actually resides beneath the skin, not on the surface. Interestingly, for approximately two weeks, acne is working under the skin where you cannot see it. When it finally becomes visible, it would start with the hair follicles or pores. Inside your skin’s pores are sebaceous glands, which produce oil needed by your skin. However, when too much oil is produced, these glands become clogged. Remember, skin constantly regenerates new cells as the old cells die. If your skin is healthy and working as it should be, the old cells will simply fall off. Unfortunately, if the cells begin to clump and oil clogs the pores, you now have a problem. With this, bacterium becomes trapped inside the skin, which begins to fester. Your body naturally starts to send out white blood cells to battle the bacteria. Even so, the oil production is too great so you now begin to experience inflammation and swelling due to the oil not being able to surface. Over time, the process involves a pimple, blackhead, or some other form of blemish showing up on the skin’s surface, thus an acne breakout. With whiteheads, you would see small white spots, usually near impossible to see. The pustules that develop are similar but instead, they become red and inflamed with a yellow or white center, commonly known as a zit. Then, acne vulgaris could include blackheads, which means the dead skin cells are blocking the pores, not dirt, as some believe. Finally, papules are similar to pustules, being inflamed, and red but without the yellow or white center.
